Typhoon Ompong Makes Landfall

Bagyong Ompong or Typhoon Ompong, with international name – Mangkhut, made landfall in Baggao, Cagayan around 1:40 a.m. Saturday, September 15, 2018 according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration. PAGASA described Bagyong Ompong as a “very destructive” typhoon and advised Norther Luzon residents to stay indoors. Typhoon Ompong is expected to bring heavy rains and damages to infrastructure and crops. Due to heavy rains brought about by low pressure area (LPA), several areas were declared no classes today, August 10, 2016. Local government and school officials were forced to suspend classes in Metro Manila and nearby provinces as PAGASA warned of continuous downpour in Luzon and Western Visayas due to the LPA. The latest PAGASA weather forecast indicates that the Philippines will have generally clear skies on Monday, February 23, 2015. Tropical storm “Basyang” is reportedly approaching the eastern seaboard of the Philippines. Basyang was earlier spotted at 768 kilometers east northeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.
