Rain or Shine Elasto Painters took Game 1 of the best-of-seven series PBA Philippine Cup Finals against San Mig Coffee Mixers, 82-80, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum on Friday, February 14, 2014.

Paul Lee gave the victory to the Painters with a running layup after getting the inbound pass off a timeout. Lee’s layup gave the Elasto Painters a two-point lead, 82-80, with .6 second left in the game.

San Mig Coffee called for timeout even though they have none. A technical free throw was awarded to Paul Lee who extended the Rain or Shine lead to three, 83-80.

Lee was voted as the best player of the PBA Finals Game 1.

Before Lee’s heroics, James Yap scored five straight points in the last two minutes of the game to bring back the lead to San Mig Coffee.

Rain or Shine Elasto Painters now leads the PBA Finals series 1-0. Game two of the Philippine Cup Finals between the San Mig Coffee Mixers and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters will be played on Sunday, February 16.
