Gilas Pilipinas Wins vs. Senegal, 1st in FIBA 2014 (VIDEO)



Gilas Pilipinas escape Senegal with an 81-79 overtime victory during the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Sevilla, Spain on Thursday, September 4, 2014.

The Philippines team won their first and only game in the tournament. It was also the first victory of the Philippines after 36 years.

Jimmy Alapag led Gilas with 18 points. Andray Blatche also had 18 points before fouling out with over two minutes left in the game.

Philippines (81) – Blatche 18, Alapag 18, Fajardo 15, Norwood 7, Lee/Dalistan 6, Aguilar 6, Tenorio 5, Chan 4, de Ocampo 2, Pingris 0, David 0.

Senegal (79) – Faye 20, Dieng 13, Ndoye 13, Ndour 13, Dalmeida 9, Ndiaye 5, Thomas 2, Diop 2, Badji 2, Ndoye 0.

Quarters: 13-19, 37-24, 49-44, 64-64, 81-79
