Is Taal Volcano really on alert level 3?

Taal Volcano is not on Alert Level 3 according to Ginette T. Segismundo of the Batangas Provincial Information Office.

In a radio interview today, July 22, 2014, Segismundo denied that Taal Volcano is on Alert Level 3.

Segismundo clarified that Taal Volcano is currently on Alert Level 1 and does not pose any threat to residents within its vicinity.

There were reports that a text message, saying that Taal Volcano is on Alert Level 3, is being circulated since this morning.

Paolo Reniva, a resident volcanologist of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) also denied the rumors that has been spreading in Batangas and several social networking sites.
