Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17

The Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was reportedly shot down by a surface-to-air missile near the border of Ukraine and Russia on Thursday, July 17, 2014.
Flight MH17 is reportedly carrying 280 passengers and 15 crew members. On board the Malaysia Airlines include 154 Dutch, 27 Australian, 23 Malaysian, 11 Indonesian, 6 British, 4 German, 4 Belgian, 3 Filipino and one Canadian. All crew members were Malaysian nationals. The nationalities of 47 other passengers were not yet known as of posting.
There were no clear report on the number of fatalities or if there was any survivor.
US President Barack Obama said that they are still confirming reports that there were U.S. citizens aboard the plane.
When Flight MH17 lost contact to communication towers, Malaysia Airlines used Twitter to announce its missing aircraft. At around 11:17 p.m. Thursday, Malaysia Airlines tweeted: “Malaysia Airlines has lost contact of MH17 from Amsterdam. The last known position was over Ukrainian airspace. More details to follow.”
