Computers were being blamed for the delay of several flights in the Los Angeles area on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
The computer problem affected several airports that include the Los Angeles International, third busiest airport in the US.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) explained that there was a failure in their air traffic computer system called, En Route Automation Modernization (ERAM) system.
Some flights were diverted to Phoenix, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City while others were grounded. There were 15 flights diverted to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, and five in Salt Lake City International Airport.
Airport authorities say that over 200 departing flights were delayed and 23 other flights were canceled. There were about 27 incoming flights to Los Angeles International that were canceled, 212 were delayed and 27 were diverted.
Thousands of passengers were affected by the flight delays.
