In a statement on Saturday morning, the NBA said that the Pacers All-Star had a successful surgery to repair his open tibia-fibula fracture. Reports say that George will remain in the hospital for at least three days. George sustained the injury during a block attempt on the shot by Rockets guard James Harden. Taiwan Plane Crash: TransAsia Airways aircraft fails emergency landing

A TransAsia Airways plane crashed in Taiwan on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, according to Taiwan’s Central News Agency. The plane was reportedly carrying 54 passengers and four crew members. Identities of the passengers were not yet made available since authorities are still informing their relatives. Reports say that the plane failed its emergency landing attempt in the city of Magong. Typhoon Glenda has claimed at least 40 individuals and damaged 115 division schools, according to the latest update by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Thursday, July 17, 2014. Areas with reported great damage include Region 4-A (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon); five from Region 4B (MIMAROPA); four from Bicol Region; three from Region 3 (Central Luzon); and two each from Metro Manila and Region 8 (Eastern Visayas).
