Batangas earthquake: Latest Philippines quake at magnitude 5.7, June 25, 2014

An earthquake jolts the southwestern part of Batangas at around 7:52 p.m. on Wednesday night, June 25, 2014.

The Batangas quake registered at magnitude 5.7 by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) was tectonic in origin.

Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) say that the earthquake has a depth of 36 kilometers at 27 degrees west of Batangas.

Metro Manila residents also felt the quake at intensity 3. PHIVOLCS is expecting aftershocks to follow.

As of posting, there was no report of any damage to properties and no tsunami alert was raised.
