A submarine car of James Bond, a.k.a. Agent 007, was auctioned off for $968,000 (616,000 pounds) in London last month. The 007 submarine car was confirmed to have been bought by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

James Bond‘s submarine car, a submersible Lotus Esprit, became popular in 1977 when it was used in a 007 movie entitled “The Spy Who Loved Me.” The car runs underwater using fins and propellers.

Musk is trying to transform the 007 submarine car into a real undersea transporter.

In a statement issued by the Tesla CEO, he said that,

I was disappointed to learn that it can’t actually transform. What I’m going to do is upgrade it with a Tesla electric powertrain and try to make it transform for real.

Jalopnik earlier revealed that Musk was the buyer of the 007 submarine car.

Below is a YouTube movie clip of the 007 submarine car.
